Between 8:00PM and 9:00PM we were outside tonight (Sept 15th 2011) and I happened to look up and see a red dot in the sky. As I looked at it, the red dot/orb didn’t move. Since we just had a bunch of news articles about “UFOs” (they were green meteors according to the news) the day before, we all went and grabbed our cameras. I happened to have my Canon with a telescopic lens laying nearby from a recent trip, so I started shooting video right away and captured this and another video (will be posted soon). It’s a pretty weird sight to see IMO. I’m personally not a huge believer in the whole UFOs and aliens thing, but the white object shooting off the side of the red orb was pretty crazy. Also the fact that the thing just basically hovered in the sky for at least 5-10 minutes was bizarre. I’ll post the second video soon

The Phoenix Lights (sometimes referred to as the “lights over Phoenix”) were a series of widely sighted optical phenomena (generally unidentified flying objects) that occurred in the skies over the US states of Arizona and Nevada, and the Mexican state of Sonora on March 13th, 1997. Lights of varying descriptions were seen by thousands of people between 19:30 and 22:30 MST, in a space of about 300 miles, from the Nevada line, through Phoenix, to the edge of Tucson. There were two distinct events involved in the incident: a triangular formation of lights seen to pass over the state, and a series of stationary lights seen in the Phoenix area. The United States Air Force identified the second group of lights as flares dropped by A-10 Warthog aircraft that were on training exercises at the Barry Goldwater Range in southwest Arizona. Witnesses claim to have observed a huge carpenter’s square-shaped UFO, containing lights or possibly light-emitting engines. Fife Symington, the governor at the time, was one witness to this incident; he later called the object “otherworldly.” The lights were reported to have reappeared in 2007 and 2008, but these events were quickly attributed to (respectively), military flares dropped by fighter aircraft at Luke Air Force Base and flares attached to helium balloons released by private individuals. Interesting connections between the 33miners in Chile, the UFO sightings in CHELSEA, NY, and the UFO sightings in EL PASO. Sighting Location: Phoenix, Arizona (North side of Phoenix) Date of Sighting: September 8-2010 A whitish orb was drifting in and out of the clouds over Phoenix. The photographer zoomed in on the object but then the orb races into a nearby cloud to hide. About 15 seconds latter the orb comes back out slightly and after 2:06 the orb quickly fades from sight. It is unclear if the orb shot of instantly or faded, but slow motion of the video shows it 75% faded while 25% remained, so it appears the object cloaked itself and was still in its location. Have a look at this awesome video taken by Erik Jimenez of Phoenix. Eric noted that the object itself appeared to be changing color.
