These lights, orbs or UFO’s were seen and filmed over Las Vegas from The Sahara Hotel on the 8th October 2010 at approx 5 to 6 pm. I saw at least ten of them fly in some sort of formation from the eastern mountain ranges. At first I assumed they were helicopters returning from the Grand Canyon but they seemed to move too slowly and upon zooming with the 4 X optical zoom (video) and taking (stills) at 10 X zoom no structure could be seen. The stills were shot on auto mode ISO 800 1/30 + 1/25 F4.3 @ 9 megapixels, the camera was a Canon Powershot SX110 IS with 10 X Optical Zoom, a very good piece of consumer kit. I know alot of helicopter flights go out to the Grand Canyon from Vegas but the lights were all the same and moved in a very odd way, bright pulsing white with strobes of red pulsing up and down it seemed (which the stills show). No solid structure can be seen at all, either behind or in front of the lights. I’ve checked the national weather data for Las Vegas for that day, the official wind direction was from the South South West, these things came from the east. MUFON’s international Director of Public Relations, Mark Easter, made a presentation in Ely recently in search of additional witnesses to recent sightings. Heather Morrison of McGill, Nevada says what we’re able to see on the video she took isn’t close to what she and her husband saw. A conclusion you can reach just listening to their excited reaction. The Morrisons witnessed those lights hanging in the dark sky, blinking on and off one night in early October in a remote spot in White Pine County’s Steptoe Valley 60 miles north of Ely at a highway intersection called Lages Junction. They saw other motorist pulling over to watch that night. “For a 5 mile radius,” she says. “People getting out and looking. There were a lot of people who saw it.” Only they came forward to tell their story, but the man who runs a service station and RV park at this lonely site, says they apparently weren’t alone. “I’ve had several that came into the store and said they’ve seen them when they were driving through,” says Charles Gledhill. Gledhill has operated this highway rest stop for 40 years. He says he hasn’t seen these lights himself, but some of his neighbors have. The town of Ely lies near the center of this case and investigators think that mining and electrical power may play a key. Mark Easter is the head of the state wing for MUFON the Mutual UFO Network. Its Easters job to be the boots on the ground in UFO sightings throughout Nevada. He has to separate possible fact from fantasy and he says people who see objects are not always happy with his findings. The reason being is we do follow a code of ethics. Were gong tell you we try to identify. Easter says 95% of sightings can be explained as manmade or naturally occurring phenomena. Its the 5% we should wonder about. So what is out there? I dont know what it is. I dont profess to know what it is. I dont blow smoke. Easter says more and more people in this high-tech age, common everyday people are shooting video of very uncommon activity in the skies. For instance, in one video an orb clearly moves across the night sky in an unidentified location. Trees come into the foreground to give it scale. Another video shot in the same location on a different date clearly shows a UFO zig zagging – therefore not a plane or swampgas. Easter says this evidence lies in the 5%.
