Original Air Force Roswell UFO Crash Media Report
The most well known Ufo event through out the history of Ufology is the indicent that happened in Roswell, New Mexico. It has been the most investigated and researched event by people in and out of UFO circles. This event has been smack dab in the middle of most UFO questions and at the heart of the study of Ufology.
The incident happened on July 7, 1947 as an unidentified flying object crash landed near the Roswell Army base. Orginal reports from the site was that an alien craft had crash landed and that there may finally be proof of aliens and ufo’s. As the news spread very quickly the U.S. Air Force even announced that they infact had recovered a flying saucer. But soon after the Air Force made its orginal report a secondary report was released stating that the recovered object was in fact simply a weather ballon.
The quick change in reports from the Air Force made many people skeptical as to what really crashed that day in the desert. Things would eventually fade with time and the Roswell incident looked like it may simply be forgotten with time. Then almost 30 years after the incident happened the Roswell crash would be given a fresh breath of life from Ufologist Stanton R. Friedman and William Moore as they would stumble upon some interesting notes from a Jesse Marcel Sr interview. Marcel Sr was a intelligence officer who worked at the Roswell Aire Force Base.
Roswell – The Beginning
A small rancher named William W. Brazel known by many as “Mac” becomes a huge part of UFO History. Brazel lived on a ranch which was located just outside of Corona , New Mexico which was named Foster Ranch serving as the ranch foreman. On the night of the crash Brazel has retired home and while there thought he heard somekind of loud noise or possibly an explosion. Making his usual rounds the next morning over the ranch Brazel comes across a large wreckage and a vast amount of scattered debris. The material was shiny and metallic and nothing like Brazel has even seen before he stated.
While on the wreckage site Brazel decides to collect some of the mysterious material so he could bring it into town and report his findings to the local sheriff’s office. Upon arriving at the Sheriff’s Office he turns the material over to George Wilcox who was the officer on duty at the time. After looking over the material and being unable to explain what it was they decide best thing to do is to report it to higher ranking officials. So officer Wilcox puts in a call to the Roswell Air Force base and talks with Major Jesse A. Marcel who agree’s to come down and have a look at the strange material and the crash scene.
Once Marcel arrives in Roswell he takes some time to interview Brazel as they travel to the crash site , Marcel was accompanied by a Army counter intelligence officer named Sheridan Cavitt. The group of me arrive at the crash site and are amazed at the wreckage and the vast amount of land it covers as the debris field is said to have been up to 3/4 of a mile in size. Marcel gathers some of the crash debris to examine and takes it back with him to further investigate. Once Marcel arrives home he then notifies Air Force officials as to what he has seen and has in his possession , its then that Colonel Blanchard would order Colonel Walter Haut to infact notify the media that the Air Force has a crashed UFO or Flying Saucer. The debris is then said to be sent to the 8th Air Force in Ft Worth Texas for further investigation under the command of General Ramsey. During this process the infamous newspaper headline is released to the public stating ” RAAF captures flying saucer on ranch in roswell region“.
This headline would not be out long before it was retracted by the U.S. Air Force. The Air Force would state that a mistake was made and the crashed object was in fact a simple weather ballon and not anykind of alien or UFO craft. The Military had quickly secured the crash site and removed every bit of the crash debris and wreckage. As the military became more and more tight lipped about the incident and sticking to there back story of a weather ballon crash many rumors started to leak. Rumors of alien bodies being recovered at the crash site begin to circulate and a possbile coverup was underway. Later the military would release photo’s of the wreckage which were printed in newspapers , but Major Marcel would later dispute the photo’s saying that the wreckage and debris shown was different from what he had seen and collected from the site. In other interviews done by Marcel many have come to think that something out of the ordinary had surely happened in Roswell in July 1947.

No one is sure what exactly happened that day in Roswell but from various witness accounts and reports it seems that something very strange and important crashed that day. The object was important enough as to have the military begin to threaten the witness’s that were coming forward. Many of the people coming forward that had seen the crash site not only reported seeing the mysterious debris but also alien bodies. The military would make known to many of these people that they were not to talk about the incident or what they thought they saw at the crash scene.
With so many varying reports and accounts of what happened the Roswell UFO Crash will remain a mystery through out time and keep the people of Ufology on the hunt. The chance of a U.S. Military coverup being extremely possible Roswell has been and always will be a major part of UFO history and lore.
